Monsoon Malabar and Kopi Luwak

Porto Rico Importing Co. on our Central Village/ Soho Tour carries two types of coffee that are far from the stuff your grandma used to brew.

Monsoon Malabar is an especially smooth coffee. The harvested beans are exposed to the monsoon rains of India's Malabar Coast for six weeks. This process causes the beans to swell and loose some of their acidity creating a perfectly smooth brew.

Kopi Luwak is a delicacy in the world of coffee... if you have the guts to drink it...

The Asian palm civet, also called a toddy cat, is a small mammal native of South and Southeast Asia. Kopi Luwak coffee beans are the coffee berries that the Asian palm civet eats and excretes.

Watch this video to learn more, maybe you'll be tempted to try a cup...
