Top 4 Places to Shop for Affordable Art & Antiques (and Grab a Bite to Eat)

A fourth-generation Brooklynite, Director of Operations Amy Bandolik has scoured the city for the best vintage goods (and bites).

Here's her list of the Top 4 Places to Shop for Affordable Art & Antiques in and around New York and her favorite meals to eat after the shopping causes hunger pains. Unique holiday gifts are in the bag!

Chelsea
The real deal - and LOTS of it. Old, old stuff. Real paintings, clothing, comic books, historically relevant items.
Priced from $1 to $1000 and everything in between.
Dealers know their stuff - and you can always haggle.
AFTER, EAT AT: Hill Country for Texas-themed honky-tonk joint featuring brisket, pork ribs, beef shoulder, smoked sausage, shoepeg corn pudding.

Brooklyn - Many locations
Great Old Maps and (new) handcrafted jewelry. Young crowd.
Also named “One of New York’s Essential Pick-Up Spots” according to Time Out NY
AFTER, EAT AT: Right there! Brooklyn Flea comes complete with their own food vendors. I like: Porchetta and John & Kira's Chocolates.

3. Cold Spring, NY (58 miles from NYC)
The entire town is antiques - and food.
Genuine stuff: 25 shops filled with Art, Old signs, antique clocks, old bottles, furniture
An hour on Metro North makes an easy day trip. Or stay at the Pig Hill Inn for a night.
AFTER, EAT AT: Hudson Hil's Cafe & Market during the daytime for delicious and fresh inventive local comfort food

159 Bleecker Street
Greenwich Village - we walk by on our CV tour!
New stuff and some old too. Handcrafted jewelry, dresses, t-shirts, old bottles dug up in NYC.
AFTER, EAT AT: a few block away on Cornelia Street at Home, Palma or Po
